Merilee Fowler is the executive director of MATFORCE and the founder of the Substance Abuse Coalition Leaders of Arizona. In this video, she provides details of the integral role that people in recovery play in the Substance Abuse Coalition Leaders of Arizona's work to reduce and prevent substance use. A large component of the coalition's programming is substance use prevention education in schools, which includes parenting education and public awareness campaigns. The coalition also advocates for policy changes and works with people in recovery. In 2011, the coalition formed the Yavapai Reentry Project, which was based on an idea from a person who had been in prison and knew the struggles of coming back home.
