Champion of Recovery: Courage Crawford

Courage Crawford is a program development specialist for the Spotted Bull Recovery Resource Center, located in Poplar, Montana, on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation. He started his career in probation as a probation officer but changed roles to fill a need he recognized on the aftercare side. His team works to ensure everything they do is culturally relevant and culturally based. The programs that he has found to be very successful are those that delve into cultural identity, which seems to result in greater progress and a lot more effectiveness with the people they serve. A goal of the programs offered by the Spotted Bull Recovery Resource Center is to help bring families back together. Courage provides insight into the importance of community for those in recovery while also highlighting food as an important support to those in his area.
